From the studio: a creative reconstruction
A first-person creative reconstruction drawing on the biography and artworks.
I begin by circling the small irregularity that stops me in an image. Rather than explaining the whole thing immediately, I try increasing the weight of that detail. Putting another line beside an overly tidy area feels like letting the image speak again.
Working around Trip Gang Tuesday, my attention returns to this detail: Teal hair and beard surround Tuesday’s pink face. A red collar gives the vertical head a horizontal base. In the next passage, I imagine pulling back anything that weakens that encounter and leaving the areas holding its tension open for longer.
I imagine the face on a soft surface. Considering how its expression changes as it bends toward the edges takes the portrait beyond a flat sheet.
How the drawing works on this product
A square pillow cover brings the portrait into a softer setting. Corners and seams can change the visible framing when the cover is filled. Compare the facial placement in the mockup, and remember that a cover is different from a complete cushion with an insert.
