From the studio: a creative reconstruction
A first-person creative reconstruction drawing on the biography and artworks.
I imagine removing the invisible ruler that tells a body where it should begin and end. A shoulder, a beard and an item of clothing should not have to agree. I enlarge their encounter, then leave it somewhere the gaze cannot immediately escape.
Working around Two Women Kissing, my attention returns to this detail: Two faces meet within warm red and yellow. Close heads and crossing lines leave little distance between the figures. In the next passage, I imagine pulling back anything that weakens that encounter and leaving the areas holding its tension open for longer.
I imagine the distance from which the print will be seen on a wall. Watching lines scatter up close and reunite from farther away, I look for room for the image to breathe inside its frame.
How the drawing works on this product
A paper reproduction gives the image a fixed physical scale without being the original drawing. The paper size and the size of the printed image are not necessarily identical. Check the Etsy listing for margins, paper details and frame inclusion before arranging a place on the wall.
